Tucker Carlson recently posed a philosophical question about why Russia can do certain things that the United States cannot. I do not think that in this particular instance the question was rhetorical and deserves an answer. The particular clip from an interview for RT in both Russian and English has been shared explosively all over the internet because this question is so relevant and because there is seemingly no answer. Let’s take a look at this famous journalist’s actual words before we try to analyze this problem, for surely it must have a solution.

“They hate Russia because it is Christian. That’s why I think Putin, trying to re-Christianize Russia, he hasn’t been very radical about it from what I can tell, but he said ‘we’re going to rebuild churches and we’re an Orthodox Christian country with a big Muslim minority that we get along with’, that’s extremely offensive to certain people. And I honestly think if Putin had just left the oligarchs in place ‘okay you get to secretly run the government like they do in the United States’ and not tried to reintroduce Russian Orthodoxy into the life of the country, this war wouldn’t have happened because I know the people that are pushing it, and they what they hate most is Christianity. And I have to say Putin banning witchcraft in Russia was like the great… ‘Why can’t we ban witchcraft? No, you can’t worship demons in my country because it could destroy my country’, but we would never do that because the witchcraft lobby is pretty strong in the United States it turns out. “ –Tucker Carlson

Judging by this statement, Carlson answers his own question to some extent. He says that lobbyists and big money are why the United States cannot follow the path of Putin’s Russia. There is some truth to this view, but it is not the whole story. Anyone who cares about the future of America should feel an eternal burning hatred for these various lobbyists who buy up and sculpt all sorts of policies to suit their agendas, many of which are to the detriment of the USA. Some of these lobbied issues are bothersome but not critical like the auto-industry’s eternal attack on trains and public transportation that have shaped even the American landscape via zoning standards. If everyone is forced to buy a car that is built in America, the economic benefits could surely make it worth it. Perhaps this shaping of America by lobby isn’t all bad. Car culture has become American culture right? But then, there are issues like the ever-being-exposed influence of the Israeli lobby over U.S. foreign policy and military moves that are absolutely bankrupting what used to be, and in theory still should be, the ‘richest country on Earth’. If you can find a positive side to the wars of luxury fought after 1991 by the USA then you are a true hardcore optimist. Yes, money and lobbyists do have an effect, but the real reason that Trump cannot do what Putin does is fundamental.

The United States faces a seemingly unanswerable systemic and ideological paradox from which it cannot escape:

-Liberalism built America

-Liberalism is destroying America

Often the term ‘Liberalism’ is equated with what Liberals/Democrats believe in an abstract sense, but what I mean by Liberalism is a system based on the ‘Individual’ as the basis for society or as Dugin would put it ‘as the Subject of the political theory’. The only thing truly sacred in the Constitution of the United States is the individual and their rights, which sounds nice, but as time goes on, when we create a culture of worshiping every individual as having equal value, especially in terms of their beliefs, should we really be surprised to see obese men dressed as women demanding the right to have sex with children? The view of the freak and the normie are of equal value. If everything is allowed nothing has meaning or morality.

Any religious beliefs in the United States are in theory equal and should be protected, thus worship of ‘the force’ possessed by the Jedis, a box of human feces, and Christ’s suffering on the cross are all equal and thus all meaningless. When all things are equal and nothing is sacred beyond the individual the only one who wins is Satan, who has now finally achieved his dream of being made no less than God in the United States. After all, finally after thousands of years the Fallen Angel gets to sit on equal footing with the Creator of the universe, at least in Liberal nations.

The Enlightenment idea that ‘I may not agree with what you say, but I’ll defend to the death your right to say it” only works in a society of extremely similar people whose various views fit fairly safely inside of a single big Overton Window. But in the 21st century in the United States defending to the death the views of those who hate you, and often want you do die directly, only digs your own grave. From a Christian perspective, how is the constant defense of anti-Christian beliefs working out for you new age Voltaires?

The Enlightenment which brought about Liberalism never went beyond the walls of the homes of the ultra-elite in Russia. That is to say, that despite having a Western-style system thrust onto Russia due to the USSR’s loss in the Cold War, there were virtually zero Jeffersonian Classical Liberals waiting for its arrival. ‘Russian’ Liberals are few in number but exactly like their massive contemporary American counterparts – the core of the views is merely a hatred for their culture of origin of the source of their supposed repression. It is just a big game of blaming society for each one of them being a loser. In short Liberalism never had a hold on Russia, some just used it as an excuse to make money in the 90s.

Both of these eastern and western Liberals speak with the same Globalist talking points merely switching the words ‘Putin’ and ‘Trump’ in each sentence. Long story short, Putin is able to do the things Carlson praised because Russian society was never liberal. In Russia there is zero support for defending the ‘free speech’ of Nazis, pedophiles and Satanists. There is nothing noble in allowing people to act in a degenerate way in public or deface traditional religion. In Russia if something is considered inherently wrong, especially from a religious standpoint, then it should be illegal, or kept out of sight, even if people really enjoy engaging in said act like pornography, gambling, drugs etc. There is no argument in Russia of “well people will do drugs anyways so let’s give them needles”. Right and wrong exist in Russia and the system reflects this, in Liberal America law and morality are not so tightly coupled together, and sometimes they have no connection whatsoever. Las Vegas is Sodom but we tolerate it because local legislatures under mafia bucks voted to make it such, so it’s okay or something.

What Russia actually is as a political system is becoming hard to say, it could resemble the idea of becoming ‘Illiberal’ as Victor Orban put it, or perhaps it is accidentally stumbling towards a Duginesque 4th Political Theory, but as soon as the 2020 constitutional referendum put the existence of God into play, declared that marriage (thus sex too) is for the purpose of a family between a man and a woman, and some other more nuanced moves it solidified that despite some Western-style Democractic trappings (the term President, having a parliament by another name, independent judiciary, etc.) it is now something ‘other’.

America has to escape the death spiral of doubling down on the same Liberalism that its enemies have been using to destroy it. It has to make something besides the individual sacred and perhaps stop defending somewhat literally ‘to the death’ the right to say and advocate for things that make Satan smile.

The 20th century was filled with deaths related to the desire to build a universal system for all, so I cannot in good faith tell Tucker Carlson that the answer is to simply ‘copy Russia’ because that is not possible, Russia was born in Medieval times and not as a product of the Enlightenment. But the ‘flavor’ of the Russian solution would be some sort of combination of acknowledging that groups exists (for example Russians are the ‘state-founding’ people of Russia, which was yet another jewel of the 2020 reforms) along with individuals and that some sort of religiosity that puts ideas above men wouldn’t hurt to add in. Essentially, the sacredness of the individual above everything else needs to be questioned and get some sort of “check and balance” at the very least.

The term ‘Christian Nationalism’ gets thrown around a lot as a solution but these same people don’t understand that in the Constitution there is no Christ… yet. As soon as there are ideas greater than men, or anything greater than men, or at least some duty to a higher cause, then the freaks and pedophiles will start to sink back into the shadows. If you want traditional values, you must remember that those came into being centuries before someone coined the term ‘nuclear family’. Our American overall disinterest in history blinds us from seeing that our postmodern views are an anomaly and not a historical norm. There are other ways of doing things that worked that could be applied to us today. Progress is a lie.

Mr. Carlson should take an honest look at the world that once was, or perhaps is returning, a classical or medieval one were concepts like ‘us vs. them’ and religiosity were default. As long as only individuals are sacred, then how are individuals from random poor countries storming the border any different or any less entitled to a life in America? If my freedom of speech matters more than anything then how can you stop me from painting pictures of the Virgin Mary with dung? If all views are discussable then why not allow for voting on legalizing pedophilia? This phenomenon has happened since the dawn of time and ‘people are going to do it anyways’. Satan is one hell of an individualist.

America was born of Liberalism and is dying from it. Can it somehow escape this paradox? It seemingly has no choice but to and Tucker Carlson truly has the potential to work on finding a solution, if he will be able to see and accept the source of the problem.
