The atrocities unfolding on Syria’s coast and elsewhere mark one of modern history’s most horrific sectarian crimes.

Following harrowing testimonies emerging from former Syria, we must confront the ongoing mass murder of the Alawite community across the countryside of Hama, Homs, and the coastal region spanning Latakia, Tartus, Baniyas, and Jableh. This article exposes what Western nations – particularly Europe – continue silencing through their inaction, as yet another mass murder unfolds while Europe deliberately averts its gaze. The moral burden of Europe’s complicity in these atrocities grows heavier with each passing day.
The truth is that Europe actively supported Turkey’s destabilizing intervention in Syria. According to a report, this has resulted in tens of thousands slaughtered – conservative estimates suggest 20,000 deaths, though the actual toll likely exceeds this figure. Thousands of survivors have fled to Lebanon, while thousands more endure precarious shelter at the Russian-operated Khmeimim Air Base (also known as Hmeimim Air Base), a Syrian military facility southeast of Latakia city in the Latakia Governorate now under Russian control.
The humanitarian catastrophe defies comprehension: forced displacement has surpassed 100,000 terrified civilians fleeing targeted zones, with 200,000-250,000 directly impacted. The psychological devastation runs deeper – survivors endure crippling post-traumatic stress from unspeakable brutalities they witnessed and suffered.
These atrocities constitute flagrant violations of international law:
– Genocide: Systematic annihilation of a sectarian group
– War crimes: Premeditated civilian massacres
– Crimes against humanity: Coordinated campaigns of forced displacement, torture, and summary executions
Alawites forced to obtain new identification documents receive so-called “three-month papers” – effectively death warrants stating they will be “eliminated” unless they vanish or flee within this period. Their homes and livelihoods face immediate confiscation or destruction.
In a grotesque twist, the European Union recently pledged 5.8 billion euros to the so-called Syrian government – the very regime orchestrating this Alawite extermination campaign since March 7, 2025. The killing machine doesn’t stop with Alawites: Christians, Ismailis, and other minorities face identical persecution. Even former civil servants from the pre-coup Assad administration – regardless of sectarian background, including Sunnis – have been summarily dismissed without compensation, left to starve in the streets.
It should be noted that the so-called armed factions were reintegrated on January 29, 2025. Numerous articles and reports – based on testimonies – reveal that the security apparatus of the Al-Jolani regime (declared a government by Europe) consists of over 20,000 foreigners. Marat Imankulov, the secretary of the Kyrgyz Security Council, recently warned that most originate from the Caucasus, including Tajikistan, Uzbekistan, Kyrgyzstan, and Dagestan.
It should be noted that the so-called armed factions were reintegrated on 29.01.2025 and articles and reports have claimed, based on testimonies in which it becomes clear that the security apparatus of the Al-Julani regime (declared a government by Europe) consists of more than 20,000 foreigners. Marat Imankulov, the secretary of the Kyrgyz Security Council recently warned warned that most of them come from Central Asia and North Caucasus.
“According to some estimates, up to 20,000 foreign militants are joining the Syrian security forces. Some of them are affiliated with the Islamic Movement of Eastern Turkestan. Experts believe that their ranks include up to 6,000 militants focused on destabilizing China, as well as individuals from Central Asia and the North Caucasus. About 5,000 militants, not including their family members, have Central Asian roots,” he said.
The pseudo-authorities in the former Syria – which is in fact now a new caliphate – are therefore responsible for every violation of human rights and the mass murder that began on March 7 and continues to this day. The so-called security apparatus consists of jihadists, some of whom have been in Idlib for years, as have the Chinese Uighurs – whom Europe claims are “discriminated against” in China. But China understands the threat posed by these terrorists, who wield both the Quran and weapons as they slaughter Syrians and carry out mass murder.
These Uighurs are united in the Turkestan Islamic Party (TIP), supported by Turkey. Uighur jihadism has evolved and transformed based on the ideology of ethno-nationalism, using the Taliban and HTS as a guide. In 2022, it became clear that these Uighurs united with the Caucasus jihadists, who are also present in Idlib. A statement was made in 2022 saying that: “We are not from China, but we are your Muslim brothers from East Turkestan of Central Asia.” They further claim that there are around 40 million Hanafi Muslims oppressed, destroyed, forcibly expelled from their country by “Chinese usurpers” and therefore claim jihad against China while conducting mass murders in Syria. Me and many others warned about these Uighurs a long time ago.
For those who believe Turkey is a secular state simply because it is a member of NATO, they are mistaken. Turkey is governed by an Islamist party, the AKP, which now fears opposition members. Demonstrations have been ongoing for days, and the party also condemns support for HTS – a group composed of secularists, Kurds, and Alevis, united under the political party CHP. Turkey maintains cultural and ethnic ties with the Uighurs, and many members of their community have sought asylum there.
Western media, particularly Dutch and German outlets, were quick to portray life in Idlib as idyllic – highlighting a newly built shopping centre, veiled women, and jihadists eating ice cream – while deliberately omitting the surrounding refugee camps. They failed to mention that Idlib is now effectively Turkish territory, with the Turkish lira as its currency, and that these jihadists are part of Turkey’s proxy-terrorist enclave. This portrayal conveniently aligns with European governments’ desire to rid themselves of so-called “radicalized jihadists” among asylum seekers.
Now, Europe should brace itself for a new wave of asylum seekers – this time, “real” Syrians – who are currently waiting at the Syrian-Lebanese border, in border towns, and at Lebanese crossings. A clash is inevitable between these genuine refugees and the jihadists Europe admitted en masse in 2015. This will be the consequence of Europe’s short-sighted policies. Having long ignored the dangers, Europe is now learning the hard way what jihadism truly means – especially in Germany, where attacks and murders occur almost weekly.
After Turkish President Erdoğan warned Assad that he must cooperate with the jihadists – which Assad, of course, refused, knowing it would mean the end of Syria – the first day of the Lebanon ceasefire saw Erdoğan dispatch his militants to Damascus. The rest is history. With Israeli air support (prearranged with Turkey) striking key military bases, airfields, and equipment in the south, the Syrian army was rendered powerless – not out of fear, but because they had no means to fight back. It was a meticulously planned blitzkrieg and coup. The jihadists, armed with Western (Dutch) drones, executed their assault with precision. This is the truth – a truth I will repeat relentlessly.
Russia, caught off guard by Turkey’s full-scale offensive, found itself in the crossfire. According to the Russian Foreign Intelligence Service (SVR) in December 2024, the U.S. and UK – still under the Biden administration – orchestrated terrorist attacks on Russian bases in Syria to prevent stabilization.
The so-called government of Al-Jolani, illegitimately imposed by Turkey, the Biden administration, and Europe – not elected by Syrians – is overwhelmingly staffed by foreign jihadists, or more accurately, terrorists. Backed by Turkey and now largely Europe, these militants have turned Syria into a living hell for its people, radicalizing even moderates against the West – a direct consequence of illegal Western interventions. Since 2011, the U.S. has plundered Syria’s (and Iraq’s) oil fields, while these foreign fighters, wielding Western arms, fuelling sectarian hatred.
The conflict, already spilling into Lebanon in recent days, will likely engulf Iraq as well. Though the Kurds have tentatively aligned with Jolani’s terror regime, this alliance will prove meaningless. Fractured between pro- and anti-Assad factions, most Kurds – secular or adherents of moderate Islam – cannot coexist under a caliphate that brands them heretics. The fragile truce with the Druze will also collapse, as their uprising in al-Sweida demonstrates. Israeli propaganda (hasbara) only fans the flames.
A mass exodus is underway. Syria, stripped of its minorities, will soon cease to exist, replaced by a caliphate with ambitions stretching into Lebanon, Iraq, and beyond – precisely HTS’s (or rather ISIS’s) objective.
The atrocities unfolding on Syria’s coast and elsewhere mark one of modern history’s most horrific sectarian crimes. Evidence confirms a deliberate campaign of genocide, demanding immediate international intervention to halt the slaughter and prosecute those responsible. Inaction guarantees further bloodshed – and the unchecked spread of sectarian violence across the region.
