It is not new: the United States began the war against Iran because Israel was going to start it anyway.

Eliminating Iran is a Zionist obsession and also the missing condition for drawing up “a new Middle East”.

There are two major converging interests in liquidating an independent Iran. Washington intends to “finish the job” of strategic conquest of West Asia begun with the destruction of Iraq in 1991 and continued in 2003. Zionism wants to take a major and decisive step towards the creation of Greater Israel, an old colonial dream.

The Zionist conquest of the territory “from the Nile to the Euphrates” has little to do with the ambition of the “return of the chosen people to the promised land”.

Israel is a colonial state inhabited by foreigners, mostly originating from communities of converted Jews from Europe and the United States, populations that have no ethnic or cultural connection with Palestinians who practise the Jewish religion.

Greater Israel would be an immense geostrategic territory, decisive in ensuring Zionist domination over the entire region, at the service of Western-style imperialism.

For this, a new “design” of the Middle East is necessary, only possible through the elimination of the nationalist and independent regimes that exist there. Imperial-Zionism began by destroying Iraq, moved on to Libya and Syria, neutralised Egypt, is massacring Lebanon and continues to exterminate the Palestinian people.

To complete the “job”, Iran must be eliminated. That is why the ceasefire has no solidity whatsoever. Iran knows that Israel will take the initiative — as is already happening in Lebanon — and, once again, will force Trump to follow its strategy. Meanwhile, the President of the United States multiplies provocations, with attempts to blockade Iranian ports, in order to force Tehran to attack its navy and thus create an alleged pretext to break the ceasefire.

Israel has invested heavily in this objective of removing independent Iran from the scene. The Mossad even managed to recruit the supreme commander of the Revolutionary Guard, General Ismail Qaani. The Revolutionary Guard is the elite military corps of the Islamic Republic and the core of the “Axis of Resistance” — made up of Tehran, Lebanese Hezbollah and the defeated Syrian nationalist regime — still the only resistance to imperialism in the region.

General Qaani was the successor to the legendary General Qassem Soleimani and assumed the post after Soleimani was killed on Trump’s orders in a precision attack at Baghdad airport in January 2020.

Qaani’s betrayal was ultimately exposed by the successive “miracles” that have marked his recent life:

In September 2024, he left a meeting in an unknown bunker in southern Beirut minutes before the brutal Israeli bombardment that killed the Hezbollah leader Hassan Nasrallah and the party’s leadership;

In July of the same year, the head of Hamas’s Political Bureau, Ismail Haniyeh, was assassinated by the Mossad while under Qaani’s protection in high-security Revolutionary Guard facilities in Tehran;

Still in 2024, in Tehran, General Qaani escaped a precise and lethal bombing of a building he had left shortly before it was struck by the United States;

On 28 February this year, the head of the Revolutionary Guard attended a meeting with Ayatollah Khamenei and most of Iran’s top leadership, but left the building eight to fifteen minutes before the bombardment that eliminated the spiritual leader;

On that same day, US and Israeli air strikes displayed remarkable accuracy against many of the most sensitive defence installations of the Islamic Republic.

Despite the betrayal and the disastrous consequences of the aggression, Iran is recovering, resisting, counter-attacking and forced a humiliating ceasefire on imperial-Zionism. The Gulf dictatorships, Israel and the American military bases in the region have accumulated damage and have not had a single day’s rest under Iranian missiles and drones. Tehran closed the strategic Strait of Hormuz and keeps the world economy under increasing pressure, to such an extent that Trump even asked NATO European countries and, remarkably, the People’s Republic of China for help in breaking the blockade. The attempt to blockade Iranian ports also aims to retaliate against China, because of its opposition to the aggression against Iran.

The peoples who have inhabited the Iranian plateau over millennia have learned that defence against technologically superior enemies is achieved through resistance, organisation and patience. And that a war of attrition is fought at a distance, through indirect pressure and over time. Imperialism, for its part, is beginning to show signs that time is not on its side.

The resistance of an independent Iran is crucial. Its defeat would represent a major reinforcement of imperialist strategic domination over the vital Eurasian landmass. It would also open a wide door to the construction of Greater Israel and a giant step towards the imposition of an inhumane neoliberal globalist regime. The peoples of the world would then find themselves in a terrifying situation.
