Russia-based analyst Stanislav Krapivnik shreds the claims made recently by Poland’s Foreign Minister that NATO would “quickly defeat” Russia in a conventional war.

Poland’s top diplomat Radoslaw Sikorski made the comments during a public forum in Kiev on September 11, when he confidently predicted that European NATO air forces would overwhelm Russia in an open confrontation.
He also predicted that NATO air raids would wipe out Russia’s oil-refining capacity within six weeks. Sikorski, who is also Poland’s deputy prime minister, cited figures claiming that NATO’s combined air fleet comprises 2,500 warplanes compared with Russia’s total of 300 fighter aircraft. Even without the military participation of the United States, the European allies could easily defeat Russia, he contended.
The foolishness of the senior Polish official defies belief, bordering on criminal insanity. Does he not understand that Russian nuclear doctrine is such that a conventional war threatening Russia’s existence would invoke the use of its nuclear arsenal, which would mean the end of Europe?
“Sikorski is part of the European idiocracy,” commented Krapivnik, a former U.S. Army Captain who lives in Russia and is an informed military analyst on the conflict in Ukraine. He says that the figures Sikorski cites do not even add up, if taken at face value.
According to Krapivnik’s inventory, NATO has a two-fold strength in warplane numbers compared with Russia, not eight-fold, as the Polish minister claims. Sikorski’s simplistic calculation does not take into account combat readiness and wartime experience that Russia has over European NATO pilots.
Also, Russia’s air defense systems, the S-300, -400, and -500, are far superior to what the European counterparts have, primarily the U.S.-made Patriot system, which has proved incapable of defending Ukraine.
In addition, Russia’s arsenal of advanced drones would take out European decision-making centers at the outset of any war.
From a narrow military perspective, Poland’s Sikorski is dumb, not to say recklessly provocative. So why is he making such belligerent comments?
Krapivnik comments that Sikorski epitomizes the “European idiocracy” – the elitist political class in Brussels, Berlin, London and Paris who are becoming increasingly desperate because the NATO proxy war in Ukraine against Russia has turned into a disastrous failure.
“The trouble is they [NATO elites] are running out of Ukrainians” to fight the proxy war.
Sikorksi and the warmongering elite are trying to drum up war fever among ordinary European citizens to go to war with Russia. The political elite are also trying to distract from the economic crisis that they have created with their years-long agenda to “strategically defeat” Russia.
European so-called political leaders like Ursula von der Leyen, Friedrich Merz, Emmanuel Macron, and Britain’s Andy Burnham, as well as NATO chief Mark Rutte, have insisted on taking the continent deeper and deeper into a dead-end conflict with Russia.
The policy has bankrupted Europe’s economies and decimated Ukraine. The European political class and their servile news media cannot admit failure and must continue the war agenda by rejecting any rational diplomacy.
But now that they have run out of Ukrainian cannon fodder, the European elites are trying to sell war with Russia to a wider European population as something that is inevitable and will be an easy victory.
“The European elites do not care about Ukrainians or their own people… they are viewed as just biomaterial for war,” concludes Krapivnik.
Hence the crass comments by Poland’s top diplomat claiming that NATO would win easily against Russia. He and the European elites want war; they need war.
However, we can be sure their children won’t be the ones doing the dying… until their insane warmongering results in nuclear conflagration.
