Shortly after the conflict in Ukraine broke out, Duran editor Alex Christoforou thought up a viral meme that has remained ever since indelibly identified with the public face of the Kiev Neo-Nazi regime, its “president” with long-expired credentials, the buffoon Vladimir Zelensky.

To be precise, in Christoforou’s witty rendition that meme was slightly redacted to “Elensky curse,” the version that Christoforou has been insistently using in his podcast ever since he created it in 2022. At that time, he had good reasons for dropping the “Z” from his target’s surname because in response to the Z symbol, which became popularly associated with the Special Military Operation, the hysterical Kiev regime published a decree practically outlawing the use of the letter “z”. And in all of Christoforou’s subsequent podcasts the chief clown has been referred to simply as “Elensky,” in mocking compliance with his own ludicrous decree.

The Zelensky curse alludes to the extraordinary statistical correlation between proximity to Zelensky and the untimely, and often abrupt, termination of the political careers (and even the lives in some cases, as happened to Lindsay Graham) of numerous Western political figures who championed the cause of the Ukrainian usurper and his Nazi-tainted regime.

The nature and existence of a causal relationship between physical contact with Zelensky and political ruin is of course debatable but, as Christoforou long ago noticed, the high frequency of political and personal misfortune that is associated with proximity to Zelensky hardly is subject to dispute.

Western champions of Vladimir Zelensky and his odious regime have been banished from the political stage in a never-ending stream. Soon after fellow buffoon Boris Johnson flew to Kiev in 2022 to scuttle the Istanbul peace agreement which had it been implemented would have saved an untold number of lives, Johnson’s tenure at 10 Downing Street was unceremoniously terminated, leaving once again Larry the Cat in charge of the British Prime Minister’s office. A procession of collective West political non-entities followed Johnson into oblivion (here and here and here) to no visible regret on the part of their constituents. Liz Truss, Justin Trudeau, Rishi Sunak, Mario Draghi, Sanna Marin … the list could go on interminably with names that are hardly worth retrieving from the dust heap of recent history.

But the real story of the “Zelensky curse” does not concern collective West public figures, although they might be inclined to misportray themselves as its victims. Together with Zelensky and his felonious gang they are in fact the perpetrators of the human tragedy that, in a causally verifiable way, has resulted from the criminal policies that they knowingly and deliberately pursued in Ukraine.

We must therefore call things by their proper name and identify the real victims of the Zelensky Curse. These are the Ukrainian people, not Zelensky’s pathetic collective West enablers and accessories. Facts generally known to all demonstrate that incontrovertibly.

Of the immense body of evidence which can be cited to conclusively corroborate this view, we shall adduce just two damning data points that fully suffice.

The first data point is the appalling four-year death toll on the Ukrainian side which, according to Andrei Martyanov’s apparently trustworthy sources, now hovers around 1,800,000 killed in action. As for the daily KIA toll for the Armed Forces of Ukraine, for years it has stood around the equally staggering figure of 1,500. Martyanov is an experienced military man and he has pointed out that these numbers are not the final accounting but represent very conservative estimates put out by the Russian Defence Ministry. Given however the intensity of the fighting and the battering that has been visited upon the Ukrainian forces, those numbers can be doubled without fear of falling into error. Apropos such morbid speculations, a Russian hacking outfit claimed recently that its covert entry into Ukrainian General Staff database has yielded evidence pointing to roughly the quantity of casualties that Martyanov has posted. Whilst the supposedly hacked data has not been independently verified, neither has the Ukrainian side convincingly disputed estimates of its armed forces’ casualties, which tend to be in that range.

And in assessing the total casualties, Martyanov continues, the killed in action figures may, again conservatively, be tripled to account for the probable number of injured and maimed.

By any measure therefore several generations of Ukrainian men have been wiped out as a result of the refusal of Zelensky and his clique to end the conflict on reasonable terms, such as were offered in Istanbul in 2022, at the very start of the hostilities, and were agreed upon by both sides before the Ukrainian regime’s abrupt withdrawal of its signature under the enticement of its collective West sponsors. The carnage that Zelensky has provoked and has been callously stoking up ever since, which has biologically decimated the population of Ukraine beyond the possibility of foreseeable recovery, is the true curse of Zelensky’s ignominious misrule.

The other, equally damning, data point is the large scale physical depopulation of Ukraine, a land and a people Zelensky was put in charge of by deceit, which are not his own, and that he plainly does not give a whit for. The demographic obliteration of Ukraine since “independence” in 1991 is a chronicle of systematic depopulation engineered from the top, to serve ultimate ends that can only be whispered about. A country that in 1991 had about 45 million inhabitants, productive industries, and vast natural resources, has in the short span of three and a half decades been brought to ruin. Now barely twenty million are said to remain, and in the absence of reliable surveys even that figure may be an exaggeration. The military conflict of the last four years is an important but not the paramount element of that picture. Successive governments, mostly beholden to foreign centers of power intent on using Ukraine and its people for their own geopolitical purposes, deliberately pursued economic, social, and cultural policies calculated to destroy Ukraine from within and to make it unliveable for its inhabitants. And their programme was a resounding success. Millions fled to the East and to the West in the hope of securing for themselves and their families the semblance of a tolerable life. Between the staggering fatalities of Zelensky’s war of choice and the deliberate creation by him and his like-minded predecessors of unbearable conditions that encourage massive emigration, depopulated Ukraine shall soon become a virtually empty land coveted by others.

These are the cumulative effects of the Zelensky curse, the “green goblin” – as Alex Christoforou is now in the habit of calling him – being the latest and most toxic mastermind of Ukraine’s destruction.
