Pope Leo has been a fool to buy into NATO’s galaxy of lies or to even pay them any attention, as that just lends them credibility, Declan Hayes writes.

First NATO came for the Arab Christians. And the Pope did not speak out because he is not an Arab. Then they came for the Russian Christians. And he did not speak out because he is not Russian. Then they came for the Armenian Christians. And he did not speak out because he is not Armenian. Then they came for the French Christians. And he did not speak out because nobody bothered listening to him anymore.

The wonderful Hélène de Lauzun’s recent article (here and here) on France’s persecution of the wonderful SOS Chrétiens d’Orient should anger Pope Leo as much as it angers me, and all of the Christian and non-Christian Syrians I surreptitiously remain in contact with. Not only did I briefly meet Benjamin Blanchard, SOS’s Director General, when he addressed packed (and encouragingly very well informed) meetings in the south east of Ireland, but I have met their volunteers literally doing God’s work in Damascus, the Valley of the Christians and Maaloula. If ever there was a group batting for Team Jesus, it is SOS Chrétiens d’Orient and their heroic efforts helping the Christians of the Biblical lands will be long remembered long after the sniveling curs persecuting them are long gone and long forgotten. SOS’s basic business plan was to bring planes full of young French Catholics to the Biblical lands and use the accruing profits to rebuild what the French Secret Service had helped ISIS to destroy. If ever there was a modern French group who could fill the shoes of Joan of Arc or Charles De Gaulle’s family, that group is SOS Chrétiens d’Orient. And if ever there was a modern French group Pope Leo should bat for, that group is SOS Chrétiens d’Orient.

Nor is that just rhetoric as Gwenn-Aël Bolloré and his first cousin, Marc Thubé, were part of the Commando Kieffer, the only French battalion to take part in the Normandy D Day landings, and billionaire Vincent Bolloré, the current head of the younger branch of that august family, is the son of Michel Bolloré, a leading member of the French Resistance, and his maternal grandmother, Nicole Goldschmidt, was a leading member of Charles de Gaulle’s Free French secret service inner circle in London. As Vincent Bolloré is France’s 14th richest person, Macron’s attack on SOS is a continuation of the efforts of the Gestapo to break families like the de Gaulles and the Bollorés and will hopefully just be as unsuccessful, because they have proved, time and again, they are made of sterner stuff than these modern day reincarnations of les femmes tondues.

Although the trumped up charges SOS Chrétiens d’Orient faces at the hands of those curs are ludicrous, those being waged against the Armenian Church are equally vile because, in attacking the Armenian Church and jailing its prelates, the CIA stooges controlling Yerevan are attacking the core of what it means to be not only Armenian but Christian as well, the Armenian (and Ethiopian) Church having being pivotal to the early growth and global consolidation of Christianity.

But great and valiant though the Armenian Church is, the attacks it is now enduring are part of NATO’s much bigger play against the Russian Church and all things Russian and, dare we say it, Serbian as well. Because countries like Serbia and Russia have been Orthodox ab ovo and because they have bitter memories of past Catholic interference in their affairs, the Vatican should not have joined West Germany’s stampede to recognise Croatia and thereby plunge Yugoslavia into its ongoing bloodbath. Further, when Russia was on the ropes prior to the rise of Putin, the Catholic Church should not have joined in NATO’s feeding frenzy against her and the Pope should take all that into account, and consider packing his toothbrush for a visit to Moscow and onwards to Pyongyang and Beijing, where he should get Putin to help him cut quid pro quo business deals between Catholic ASEAN universities and Putin’s Beijing and Pyongyang buddies, as neither China nor North Korea are quite ready to fully embrace Catholicism just yet.

Prior to that, there would have to be some serious explaining of recent wrongs done. These would include explaining why Zelensky and his MI6 handler were given the run of the Vatican and why the Vatican will not rein in the Ukrainian Greek Catholic Church, which is as silent as is the Pope on the unconscionable treatment Orthodox Christians and Orthodox holy sites are getting from the Kiev junta’s thugs.

And then there is the not inconsequential matter of Crimea, which former British Defence Minister Ben Wallace has insisted must be blasted off the face of the earth. That is Adolf Hitler talk and Pope Leo should clarify, in baby English so we can all understand, whether he agrees with the rabid Wallace or whether he believes Crimeans have the right to life, liberty and all the rest of the normal stuff tubby two shoes like Wallace take for granted in their own privileged lives.

It is a hell of a stretch for British prelate (and MI6 agent?) Paul Richard Gallagher to be prattling on at the UN about the persecutions the Christian Churches are facing when the Pope is so guilty of so many sins of omission and commission in that regard himself. Even leaving the wonderful SOS Chrétiens d’Orient to one side, let’s listen to Gaza’s parish priest who tells us that his parishioners are enduring hell on earth, just like his predecessor, Fr Manuel Musallam, told me they did during Operation Cast Lead when I interviewed him in Ramallah. Let’s recall today’s persecuted Christians of nearby Taybeh, as well as the gallant French nuns who minister there and in the orphanage in Bethlehem and consider this excellent Al Mayadeen summary of how the Israelis have systematically cleansed Palestine of Christians. I doubt there is a war crime the Israelis and their Syrian proxies have not committed against the Palestinians, Lebanese and Syrians and, God knows, I have seen my share as, more so, have all of those I met there.

But not the baseball fan in the Vatican, who thinks Trump’s Gazan plan is the greatest thing since sliced Holy Communion wafers (or should that be sliced priests’ necks?) Resist not evil, my arse. Although the Russians have Dostoevsky and the Yiddish speakers have Isaac Singer, we Irish were never particularly adept at either theoretical or applied theology and that probably explains why those of us worth our salt never bought into the the Anglo-Dutch smears of España profunda and España negra or the most recent, recycled schoolboy smears of Sam Harris and his fellow Poundland Zionist propagandists.

If Pope Leo, as Christ’s Vicar on Earth, cares to consult his penny catechism, he’ll see his job description comes with a very specific mission statement, which excludes being a doormat for Zelensky and Trump, or a red rag to get Russia to respond in appropriate deeds to Wallace’s inappropriate words.

Not that my proposed course of action would win Pope Leo any friends amongst NATO’s certifiable sociopaths if the EU’s recent actions in sanctioning its MEPs for talking to their Russian counterparts is our metric. Extend even a virtual olive branch to Russia and expect von der Leyen, Wallace and Europe’s other rabid curs to be snapping at your heels.

Pope Leo has been a fool to buy into NATO’s galaxy of lies or to even pay them any attention, as that just lends them credibility. He must drive NATO’s vipers from the Vatican and break bread with the Russians and Armenians as a first step to putting his Church back on course. Time spent drooling over the new Anglican Archbishop of Canterbury and her souper husband or with the mad as a march hare Polish President who communes with the dead, is time wasted. He should solidify his bases in the Hispanosphere and in the Lusophone world and go about building sustainable connections via Moscow, all while not exchanging NATO’s shackles for those of any other temporal power. He should, in short, grow a pair, just like the Apostles did at Pentecost.

That is not so much a roadmap to Rome’s Reconquista as a roadmap to creating a new world, where the Third Rome and, hopefully the Second Rome as well, help to carry humanity’s common cross that currently cuts deepest on the Christians of the Levant, of Armenia, of Western Russia and now once again of France, Rome’s eldest and ever besieged daughter. If any of that is too much to ask, there is always baseball in Chicago or the highlands of Peru, but not Venezuela, as that would risk him being droned to death, along with God only knows how many other unsung unfortunates, by the trigger happy anti Christ currently skulking in the White House.

Pope Leo must either stand up for persecuted Catholics, Orthodox Christians, Alawites, Armenians and Mandaeans or abdicate
